Shirley Hamblin Reed
age 89, passed away in St. Petersburg on Saturday, March 9, 2024 under Hospice care. Shirley was born October 8, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Reed Jr. She is survived by three children, Debra Eckert (Peter), Jennifer MacClinchy (Richard) and David Reed. Shirley is also survived by six grandchildren, Elizabeth Eckert, Kaylyn Haemmelmann (Kevin), Jacob Furlott (Hayley), Joseph Furlott(Emily), Kristen Robinson (Benjamin), Kelly Reed and five great grandchildren, Addison & Autumn Haemmelmann, Eloise & Lucy Furlott, and Reed Robinson. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A 1956 graduate of Florida State University, she taught music education for 30 years in Pinellas County Schools. Shirley served as a Child Advocate Volunteer with Guardian ad Litem and was a devoted member of her church family. Shirley will be remembered for her love of music, sewing and sports.
