Upman, Juanita Louise "Nita"

98, of St. Petersburg went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2022. She was born in Leslie, GA to Josiah and Ruth Jones (Bryan) on May 7, 1923. She is survived by her daughters Janice L. Duran of Pinellas Park and Julia L. Upman of St. Petersburg; grandchildren Ronald Ingerick Jr. (Terri), Angela (Jeff) Hicks, Troy Upman, April (Brian) Aldrich, Tiffany Upman and Jeff Morris; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Walter F. Upman, her son Terrance F. Upman, grandson Shawn T. Upman and son in law Bert Duran. Juanita grew up in St. Petersburg and attended local schools. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1941. The next year she married Walter (Duke) Upman and they went on to have 77 years together. Juanita had a love for children. She had a childcare in her home and cared for more than 100 children over the years. She also had a love for teaching children the Bible in her home with Child Evangelism, in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Awana. She took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and searching for treasures at garage sales. She also gave pleasures to others, even when she was restricted by age, through her wit and beautiful smile. More than any of these however, Juanita took her greatest pleasure in her relationship with the Lord. The family would like to thank those who supported her in many ways in her final years. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on May 5th from 7:00pm-8:30pm. A funeral service will be held on May 7th 1:00pm at Starkey Rd Baptist Church.
