97, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025.  Bill was born in St. Petersburg in 1927 to the late La Verne G. and Eva (Graham) Van Middlesworth. He is survived by son Steven William Van Middlesworth, daughter Eva Van Middlesworth Dyer, and grandchildren Rachel Van Middlesworth, Holly Dyer, and Paul Dyer.

Bill was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and Florida State University.  He majored in Accounting and also attained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. He enjoyed a long career with Van Middlesworth and Company, PA. For many years, Bill held a second job as a newspaper carrier for the Tampa Tribune and the St. Petersburg Times to support his family. He was also professionally active in his local Toastmasters and Kiwanis Clubs. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.

Bill married June Adams Markley in 1954 in St. Petersburg, Florida. They remained married for 41 years until her death in 1995. In later years, he enjoyed a long-term relationship with Ms. Millie Drew of St. Petersburg.

In his youth, Bill enjoyed racing motorcycles and fast cars. In his later years, he enjoyed boating and playing handball at the YMCA. He was a cat lover and rescued and cared for many cats over the years.  Bill loved smoking his tobacco pipe, and spent his evenings at home with his family, reading and enjoying a good drink!

He was a wonderful provider for his family. Bill was a believer in hard work and education and always encouraged his children to pursue higher education and professional careers.

The Memorial Service will be held on January 31st, from 2pm-4pm at Sorensen Funeral Home, 3180 30th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713. All family and friends are welcome.
