Timothy John (Tim) Donovan Obituary

Tim Donovan was born in Urbana, Illinois on February 21, 1964, the sixth child of John G (Jack) and Diane L Donovan.  He was raised in Champaign, IL in a big Irish Catholic family and ran a little bit wild with a very large contingent of Garden Hills neighborhood kids. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Champaign Central High School, where he played varsity football for the Central High Maroons. During his high school years, he became a member of the Sons of The American Legion, where he served as Commander. After graduation in 1982, he attended college in various locations. Tim then settled in Kansas City, MO and lived there for several years, eventually relocating in Florida. He met Chandra, the love of his life, in Florida and moved to the St. Petersburg area, where they lived until his passing.

Tim is survived by his large and loving family, including wife Chandra, and his children Hallie Lyons (Jen) Peri Donovan, Jackson Donovan, and Kaelyn Neathery, step-children Meredith Barter (Brian) and Morgen Barter, and grandchildren Charlotte, Caroline, Ellie, Tessa, Hendrix, Aiyana, Brayden, and Levi.  He leaves behind his siblings, Maureen Thurman, Pony Monroe, Terence Donovan, Kathleen Selby (Steve), and Kelly Donovan, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who all adored him.  He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Parents, and stepson Mitchel Barter.  Tim was an ardent dog lover who always had little companions that he showered with affection. He recently lost his Roxie, but is survived by his little friends Simon and Zoie.

Tim worked in sales all of his adult life and if you knew him, you can understand why he was so good at his job. He was charming, charismatic, knowledgeable, and friendly, and if he was your friend, he was your friend for life.

Tim was a Super Fan of the St Louis Cardinals, Illini football and basketball programs, and the Dallas Cowboys. His unbelievably vast sports knowledge was impressive and he loved to talk smack with family and friends about all things sports and politics. You could ask him a question about any topic of historic or current events and he would have at least a working knowledge of it. To say that Tim was loving, kind, and generous is an understatement. He showed up when you needed him and unselfishly helped not only his family and friends, but also mentored dozens of young people during his career, who he brought into sales positions, helping them attain their career and personal goals. Tim is loved and cherished by many and is sorely missed.
