Our father, Thong Khac Vu has gracefully passed on the morning of September 2nd 2023.
Thong was born and raised in Vietnam on June 14th 1952. During the Vietnam war he fought for his country along side the U.S. He escaped communism in the late 70’s determined to find safety, opportunity and a better future for him and his wife. Even though he endured hardship and struggle, Thong overcame every obstacle in his way. He navigated his way to the U.S. as an immigrant and with determination he earned the right to be an American citizen. Through persistence, strong will, and hard work, nothing stood in his way.
Thong built a life for his wife and children with his bare hands from scratch. He went to school and taught himself how to read, write and speak English. He put himself through trade school and became a master mechanic.
Thong worked hard for his family and never asked for any help but was always the first to help anyone in need. He was a giving, kind hearted, and loving man. He loved to laugh and sing, all with a contagious smile. Thong guided his family and friends with wisdom and strength.
A true man of honor. He is our pride and he is our rock. He is our King. We love you Dad. Until we meet again.
Thong is preceded in death by his father Vu Khac Me and his mother Dang Thi Ty. He is survived by his wife Hong Cam Nguyen Vu and his 3 children Linh, Nga and Loc Vu, along with several grandchildren.
A public memorial service will be held at Sorensen’s Funeral Home 3180 30th Ave N. St. Petersburg, FL 33713 on September 10th 2023 from 9am-12pm and also September 11th 2023 from 12pm-3pm.
