Richard James Lloyd Jr., a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at Tampa General Hospital on March 26, 2023, surrounded by family.
Originally from St. Paul, MN, Richard moved with his family to St. Petersburg, FL in 1971. Richard became a long-haul owner-operator at an early age, most recently working for First Class Moving Systems. Rich garnered numerous accolades. He was often requested by repeat customers who had the pleasure of knowing him after having been moved by him and his crew.
Richard was an avid boater. He captained his family’s 1964 Hatteras at the age of 12. His favorite weekends were spent taking family and friends to Shell Island and local waterfront restaurants to enjoy a fish sandwich and a cold beer.
Richard took pleasure in caring for his family, his vehicles, and his boat. His work was so immaculate, an easy jab by his family was that the oil in his machines was so clean it was clear as water.
He was often the life of the party and would talk to anyone at great length. His charisma and enthusiasm for life was contagious which would keep his friends and family laughing. Memories of Richard will be remembered warmly in the hearts of many.
Rich was proceeded in death by his parents, Richard James Lloyd Sr., and Marlene Kathryn Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Candace Lloyd; his brother Michael J. Lloyd, sister-in-law Nannette and niece Glory; sister Cynthia A. Lloyd; his sons David M. Lloyd and Adam J. Lloyd; and grandchildren Chance Tran and Rooney M. Lloyd.
