Paul Wayne Turner

Paul Wayne Turner, 81, passed away on December 18, 2021. He was born April 8, 1940, in Monroe Michigan, the son of Troy Turner and Frances(Guthrie) Turner. Paul graduated from Monroe High School, class of 1958. Following graduation he attended Adrian College. He was an educator serving as a teacher, athletic director, assistant principal and principal during his career. Paul married Peg Herman on July 14, 2003. They celebrated 18 years of marriage in July. Paul enjoyed living in both Gladwin, Michigan and Gulfport, Florida. He attended Grace Christian Church in Gladwin and Park Street Baptist Church located in St. Petersburg. Paul had wonderful friends at both churches. Paul loved all sports and was a well-liked coach, referee and official. He also loved gospel music and attended concerts as often as possible. He was a dedicated grandparent and loved to be called Papa T. Paul loved his family, both immediate and extended, and many of his best memories were spending time with those he loved. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Harry, David, Benny and Dale. Surviving in addition to his wife, Peg (Herman) Turner, are his daughters, Paula Turner of Clearwater, Florida; Pamela (Turner) Shufeldt and husband Jeff of Palm Harbor, Florida; son Scott Turner and wife Michelle of Rochester Hills, Michigan; step-son Bill Kupp of Clarkston, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Brooke Turner, Nicolas Turner, Mara Turner, Luke Shufeldt, Max Shufeldt, Danielle (Scott) Heinowski, Dakota Kupp, Hunter Kupp, Tanner Kupp; one brother, Dennis Turner and wife Peggy and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Park Street Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. All are welcome to attend. We, the family, would like to thank the ICU department at Palms of Pasadena Hospital for their compassion and care while our beloved family member transitioned to heaven.
