Obituary
Mary Elaine (Dassing) Evers, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Carbondale, Illinois passed peacefully the morning of June 7th, 2022 at the age of 96.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy Alice Dassing and 3 siblings.
She is survived by Donovan "Don" Evers, her husband of 74 years, two daughters: Donna (Evers) Bowlin & Gail (Evers) Herring, two granddaughters: Beth and Laura Bowlin, & one great-granddaughter: Israel "Izzy" Bowlin.
Elaine was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, worked, ran a household, raised a family, and retired from SIU Foundation.
She was very involved in her church, sorority, and community. She was an artist, an inventor, world traveler, enjoyed chocolate, dancing, playing golf, and spending time with her family. She was creative, glamorous, and kind, had a healthy sense of humor, a wild amount of patience, and inspired many to longevity.
She was above all, a very proud wife to her war-hero husband, whom she loved and obeyed (and shared a very long happy adventure with).
She will be missed and remembered.
Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 at 9:30 am.
