Marguerite P. Lowman of South Pasadena, FL, daughter of the late Mary G. Poccia, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 with her loved ones by her side.
Marguerite is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert W. Lowman of South Pasadena, her daughters Mary Beth Hewitt of New City, NY and Sarah Lowman of Rochester, NY, her son Brian Lowman of Charlotte, NC, son-in-law Scott, daughter-in-law Kristy, and grandchildren Alexis, Derek, Jacob, Katherine and Eddie. Numerous aunts, nieces, nephews & cousins survive her as well.
She was predeceased by her parents Marc Anthony & Mary Sullo Poccia, and sisters Barbara M. Grogan and Jean P. Salomone, both of Norwalk, CT.
In addition to her birthplace of Stamford, CT, Marguerite & Robert lived in Norwalk, CT and then they made a home for more than 40 years with their children in New City, NY.
Marguerite was an elementary education teacher for more than 45 years, teaching in the Stamford, CT Public School System and then at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic School in New City, NY until it's closure. She made a great impact on the lives of countless children during her career.
In 2014 Marguerite retired from teaching. She & Robert relocated to South Pasadena, FL and made a new home there which brought her great happiness.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, she was fortunate to have had special relationships with each of them.
Marguerite will be remembered for many things, most notably the warm smile she had for everyone she encountered. She had a strong faith, a fierce and determined spirit, and showed welcoming support for everyone in her life. She captured your attention with her ability to tell a story. Those stories often reflected her approach to everyday life, filled with the perfect mixture of humor and her pearls of wisdom. Those qualities will be carried forth, in her memory, by her husband, children & grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2nd from 5pm to 7pm at Sorenson Funeral Home, 3180 30th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Friday, September 3, 2021, 10:30 am, St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 445 82nd Ave, St Pete Beach, FL 33706 with interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetary in Clearwater, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The American Lung Cancer Society.
