Lois Kool, 93, passed away peacefully in her home on October 5, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Ruth Sheeley and was the youngest of eight children. Lois grew up on the family farm in Galien, Michigan and in her mid-20’s moved to Florida where she remained.

Lois had a successful career in Sales at the Sears Department store in St. Petersburg.  She was the first woman to work in the furniture and appliance department where she earned top sales awards during her 25+ year career.  Throughout her life, Lois loved visiting her large extended family in Michigan and the many cities in which her daughter and family lived.  Lois was very proud that she had the opportunity to travel internationally and take fun excursions with family and friends. 

Lois cherished her family above all else and is survived by her two daughters: Cathy Barrios (Frank) and Becky Duffy (Mike); four grandchildren:  Kelly Hanestad (Jeff), Brad Barrios (Roia), Sarah Smith (Dan) and Steven Duffy (Allyson); and 9 great-grandchildren: J.J., Ben, Miles, Vivienne, Theo, Charlotte, Harrison, Jane and Wyatt.  

Lois lived life simply with dignity, grace and kindness.  The only pain she ever caused was when she left us.  

A celebration of life will take place at Sorensen Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10am.
