Larry Thomas Fields was born on April 28, 1934 in Suffolk, VA to Johnnie and Delia Fields. Larry was the oldest of their 4 children. Larry was a graduate of East Suffolk high school, after which he enlisted in the Air Force. Upon his return to Virginia, Larry met Laurae, who he married in 1955. They were married for 59 years and had 7 children. Larry and Laurae relocated the family from VA to NY due to better job opportunities. After working for the New York Transit Authority for 17 years, Larry retired, and the family relocated to FL in 1996.
Larry always enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends (whom he considered as family also). To have a house full of children and grandchildren was a common occurrence. Larry loved a good card game and was very tough to beat! He was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness, baptized in 1979 and serving as an elder with the Pinellas Point congregation.
Larry is survived by his sisters Deloris Watson and Jacquetta (Johnel) Williams. His children, Gerald (Letitia) Fields, Janine (Nate) Fields Jones, Laurence (Liza) Fields, Crystal Fields, and Sterling (Navonda) Fields. His grandchildren Michelle Fields, Shanta Fields, Danielle Anderson, Derrick Crowder, Lavon Fields, Crystal Fields, Jarrett Fields, Jasmine Fields, Marcus Fields, Sean Fields, Jada Fields, and Michael Fields. Great grandchildren Mechavonee, Malajea, Marques, Ariana, Cameron, Nicholas, Corey, Lyndon and Nova Rose. And scores of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
