Jose Abad (Joey), a man defined by his boundless love for his family and his simple, joyful pleasures, passed away surrounded by his family, on August 15, 2025. He was 64.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Joey moved to Queens NY, and eventually settled in St. Petersburg, FL.  More than anything, Joey was a man who put others first. He dedicated his life to caring for his family, finding his greatest joy in the laughter and well-being of his grandchildren, Rory, Avery, and Ele Dawn. Whether he was attending their performances, sharing a dance, capturing moments behind the camera, or simply enjoying their company, his world revolved around them. He always showed them the value of kindness and the importance of finding happiness in the little things, a lesson he embodied every day.

When he wasn't spoiling his family, Joey had a few simple pleasures of his own. A day wasn't complete without chocolate. His love for music was a soundtrack to his life; he could often be found tuning his stereo or playing music. His home was a testament to his passions, filled with a beloved collection of starting line ups, vinyl records, and photographs of his family, each item holding a story and cherished memory.  

Joey is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria; sons, Justin and Joseph, daughter, Jasmine Kenning, step-children, Neil and Genevieve Bray; his cherished grandchildren, Rory Kenning, Avery Bray, and Ele Dawn; sister, Jocelyn (Dean) Pedalino; nephew and niece James and Jolaine; grand nieces, Abbigail, Lorelee, Sierra, and Jada; and a community of friends and family who will miss his quiet strength and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose, Sr, mother, Epifania; former wife, Noemi; and son-in-law, Thomas Kenning.
