Barbara Joan (Bryan) Wright, age 85, of St. Petersburg, Florida, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 21st, 2024. She was born to William George Bryan, Sr., and Mattie (Cheshire) Bryan on February 28th, 1939. Joan graduated from St. Petersburg High School and Mound Park Hospital’s School of Radiology. She was a registered X-ray Technologist and a registered Mammographer and enjoyed a meaningful career in her chosen profession.

On January 28th, 1966, Joan married Edward Thomas Wright, and together they were the parents of two children, Jennifer Kristi Wright and Caryn Revé (Wright) Mekkaoui.

Joan was an active member of First Alliance Church, Christian and Missionary Alliance, for 35 years where she served in many roles until the church closed in 2009. Following the church closure, she joined Faith Covenant Church and was an active member until her death. She prayed for her family, friends, neighbors and church family daily; she was a fervent prayer warrior. Joan was an enthusiastic supporter of global mission work. The missionaries she met over the years were held near and dear to her heart. Her sisters in Christ brought her joy, love and support; Joan was grateful for them.

In her golden years, Joan spent much of her time watching game shows and Christian television programming, solving word searches, reading her Bible, and playing scrabble with her cherished best friend of 48 years, Margaret Seaman. Joan will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards all that crossed her path; and for her love of the Lord which was evident in her daily life. Joan loved sharing the plan of Salvation and led many people to Christ in her lifetime.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Edward Thomas Wright, her daughters - Jennifer Wright and Caryn (Bacem) Mekkaoui; six (6) grandchildren - Hunter Wright, Rachel (Isaac) Calderon, Jacqueline Fishel, Layth Mekkaoui, Theodore Fishel and Zayna Mekkaoui; and two (2) great grandsons - Isaiah and Jeremiah Calderon.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Covenant Church located at 150 62nd Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33702 on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
