Obituary

James “Jim” Iradell Davis, Jr. (also known lovingly as “Papa”) went home to be with the lord on March 4th, 2022. Preceded in death by his mother Helen Lois Davis (Livingston) and Father James Iradell Davis, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Felina “Abuela”, daughters Suzan (Brian) Ohle, Beatriz (Bruce) Dunbar, and sons Jim (Angela) Davis, Rogelio Hernandez, Marco (Cindy) Davis, and Michael (Amanda) Davis, his younger sisters Mary (Don) Weathers, Barbara (Allan) Ballinger, and his younger brothers Mark (Kathy) Davis, Jerry (Maria) Davis. Nothing meant more to him than his relationship with his wife, kids, grandkids, and family. He was extremely proud of his family and selflessly helped any of us when we needed him. He knew how to fix everything and was always the go to person for any kind of project. To say he will be missed greatly is an understatement.

Born is Sapulpa, Oklahoma, James moved with his family at the age of 7 to Saint Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1964. James was a hard worker from an early age, being the eldest of five many of his weekends were working with his family. By high school, he was working with his father James Sr (a tree surgeon) for James Davis Tree Service. Clearing areas around the city for new development, Riviera Middle School being one of them.

After high school, James had a passion for science and technology. This led him to St Pete Junior College with a focus in Chemistry. He worked at the City of St Petersburg, General Electric (R&D Department,) and at one time was an owner/ operator of Acme Saw Sharpening. In 1990, he graduated with honors (GPA of 4.0) and earned an Associate of Applied Science, Electronics Engineering Technology degree while working full time as a Real Estate Agent. After graduation he went on to work with CSX Railroad for 10 years as a communication technician and traveled all over Florida and North Carolina. A man who was always enthused to build onto his knowledge, earned multiple Microsoft & Cisco Certifications (while working full time and traveling), eventually led him to a position as a Network Analyst at All Children’s Hospital in 2001. By 2007, Jim had decided it was time to retire and enjoy family and traveling…for fun! In 2020 an opportunity presented itself with Solar Bear, LLC, and began working again from home as a Solar Power Designer.

His greatest legacy are his grandchildren Justin Del Rio, Brittney Tiluscar, Aaron Flannery, Savannah Hernandez, Jade Hernandez, Wyatt Ohle, Anjuli Ohle, Mason Ohle, Brianna Ohle, Maria Davis, Deanna Davis-Casallas, and Marco Davis Jr, and great grandchildren Zoe Del Rio, Banx Del Rio, and Eliyas Tiluscar.
