James Hunter Dambeck Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Hunter Dambeck, who passed away on June 24th, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on April 10, 1947, in Morristown, New Jersey, son of John (Fred) and Bertha Dambeck, Jim grew up in St. Petersburg, FL and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1965. He lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to family and friends. Jim graduated with bachelor’s degrees from both University of Central Florida and University of South Florida. He honorably served in the United States Army and retired as a Captain. In the private sector, he worked as a respiratory therapist and completed his career in medical device sales.

Jim was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where he served faithfully. Jim enjoyed fishing, watching college football and cheering on the Ray's. In his later years, he enjoyed researching family ancestry and volunteer work with the Pinellas Genealogical Society. He particularly enjoyed having lunch with friends regularly at Fergs Sports Bar.

Jim is preceded in death by his brother, John (Jack) Dambeck and his parents, Fred and Bertha Dambeck. He is survived by his children; Amy, Sarah, Matthew and Molly as well as 8 grandchildren, his sister Barbara Bowers and other loved ones who will cherish his memory forever.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, July 15th at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 301 58th St S, St. Petersburg, Fl 33707. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
