June 21, 2020

Hevel, Hal Clarence

86,  Born June 1, 1934.  At Holy family hospital city of La Porte Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Clarence E Hevel and Katheryn E Hevel and his son Lane Hevel. Hal passed peacefully in comfort with hospice care. Hal was married for 66 years to the love of his life Betty J Snyder. Hal graduated from North liberty high school in 1952. Hal had 5 children Bryan, Lane, Ricky, Penny, and Michelle. From his beautiful children Hal had 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Hal always put his family first and always worked hard to support and provide for them. Hal made his living by working as a butcher for many years with Wilcox and then after moving to Florida he started to work for Publix as a meat manager. Hal later retired and enjoyed his retirement in North Carolina. Hal enjoyed hiking, wood carving and enjoying his life. Hal loved to listen to jazz music where he showed his moves as a dancer who has the groove. Hal loved to laugh and spend time with his family. Part of our hearts will go with him. He made a big impression on those who met him. We thank you, Lord, for the blessing of this man we call Dad, Husband, Grandpa and a Friend. We will truly miss such an amazing part of our lives but what an imprint Hal has left behind. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 27th 2:00pm at the funeral home.

My Heart is Singing; I Have Found The Way

Pauline Drew Stone

If only once in a lifetime

the stars came out at night,

if only once in a lifetime

we saw the sunshine bright;

We’d watch them with such rapture

That tears would be dim sight

If only once in a lifetime

We saw flowers bloom

And heard the laugher of children

Light up a lonely room;

We’d give our hearts to recapture

One sight of them in the gloom.

Yet every day in our lifetime

These blessings are waiting there;

But we blindly take them for granted,

These everyday joys so rare.
