Guy Albert Oelze, 72, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on August 10, 2024, at his home.
He is survived by his parents, Shirley B. Cole and Guy T. Oelze; his brother, Gary Oelze; his daughter, Candice Oelze; his granddaughter, Harper Wilson; and a loving extended family.
Guy graduated from Lakewood High School in 1971 and proudly served his country as a boilerman in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Columbus CG-12, from which he was honorably discharged after four years of service.
Following his military service, Guy worked with his father at Florida Heating and Cooling before starting his own business. Known for his discipline, intelligence, and dedication, he balanced hard work with a passion for life. Guy was drawn to the water, spending much of his time exploring Tampa Bay, boating, fishing, camping, and rescuing sea animals. On weekends, he could often be found on his boat, Attitude Adjuster, enjoying time at Passage Key.
A generous and skilled individual, Guy was always willing to lend a hand and offer advice. He was a creative soul with a knack for fixing and making things, and his storytelling, humor, and laughter were cherished by friends and family alike.
Guy loved his family deeply and was particularly proud of his granddaughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In accordance with Guy’s wishes, his remains will be scattered in the Gulf at a later date.
