Everett Lee Stevens Obituary

Everett Lee Stevens, 89, of Seminole, FL peacefully passed away on March 29, 2026, at Morton Plant Hospital.


A memorial service will be held at Sorensen Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, FL at 2:30pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.  A private burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with full honors.


Everett (Buddy) was born September 30, 1936 in Oak Hill, WV to the late Haven G. and Anna Mae Stevens.  After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and met and married Louise C. Choux of Springfield, MA in April of 1957.  He rose in the ranks of the Air Force up to the rank of Technical Sergeant as a surveyor in a span of 10 years and then was offered the opportunity to be commissioned as a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army.  He served in Vietnam and on many bases throughout the U.S. and Germany.  He culminated his career at the Defense Mapping School at Fort Belvoir, VA as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 at which time he retired with 16 years 6 months of service in the Army.  He was awarded many medals and awards including the Bronze Star for his exemplary service.  Upon retirement, he moved to Florida to take care of his aging parents and continued his career as a land surveyor.


Throughout his moves, he was deeply involved in every church he belonged to.  He served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, hospital chaplain and many more roles over the years.


He is survived by his wife, Louise, as well as three daughters: Jean C. Nylin of Seminole, FL, Linda K. (Cliff) Boyce of St. Petersburg, FL and Donna S. (Todd) McCurry of Greensboro, NC who were all by his side as he received his heavenly wings.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica Nylin Monk, Sara Nylin, Clifford Boyce, Ashley McCurry Baer, Emily Boyce Stewart, and Hannah McCurry and four great grandchildren Rebecca Harmon, Abigail Monk, Samantha Rebolledo, and Joshua Monk.  


He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Margaret Kepto and Phyllis Sulesky as well as many other family members.  We know they are all together in heaven joyously celebrating their reunion.
