Eric Lang Peterson passed away on June 18th, 2026 just one day before his 83rd Birthday. He was born June 19, 1943 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Growing up he attended West Central Elementary, Mirror Lake Junior High and graduated St. Petersburg High School in 1961.  He spent his entire life as a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter from his baptism on, including years as an acolyte and member of the choir. In high school he played piano, was part of the NoSoWeEa yearbook & Palmetto and Pine paper, the drama club, and on the Varsity swim team. After high school, he studied art and history at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee class of 1966.  After college, he spent a little time working in New York before returning home.  He always appreciated and collected art and antiques even as a young man.  Back in St. Petersburg, Eric was a Certified Fine Art and Antique Appraiser for over 50 years.  He was also an avid member and supporter of the art community, local museums, and many Florida artists.  He has helped curate many exhibitions and has made personal donations of art in the community.  Among his many accomplishments, he served as Board president of the Morean Arts Center in the 1970s;  the Arts Coordinator of the St. Petersburg 1988 Centennial; member of the City of St. Petersburg Arts Advisory committee; member of the Pinellas County Historical commission; member of the Stuart society for the Museum of Fine Arts; and the installation designer for the annual Art Festival at Beth-El.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Alexander Lang Peterson and Marjorie Duke Applebee, and his sister Nancy Jo Peterson.  He is survived by his brothers Jon D. Peterson and William E. Peterson. His family would like to thank his close friends, nieces and nephews, church community, and art community who have been supportive throughout his life.
