Doris “Sally” Rivera was born on January 16, 1941, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and passed away on November 28, 2024, in her St. Petersburg home surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Miguel Rivera, and her children: David, Dana, Darlene, and Angelina. She was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie in 1987. Sally lovingly raised Debbie’s daughter, Christina, who was also a cherished part of her family. Her legacy lives on through her children, as well as her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Sally spent her life bringing warmth and joy to others through her work as a cook and baker, as well as in childcare. In 1987, she and Miguel made the heartfelt decision to return to St. Petersburg to be closer to Sally’s family. As the oldest of six siblings, Sally was a guiding light and a source of love and support for her family. She will be remembered for her gentle, kind, caring nature, which touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Sorensen Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Robert’s Recreation Center at 6:30 p.m.
Sally’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends, who are grateful for the time they had with her and the love she shared so freely.
