Vo, Diem Van
80, of Pinellas Park passed away on May 25, 2022 at St. Pete General Hospital. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 31st from 5:00pm-8:00pm. There will be a Buddhist Monk Ceremony on Wednesday June 1st 8:00am-9:00am. He is survived by his wife and 5 daughters.
Prior to the Vietnam War, he joined the Thu Duc Academy in Vietnam, and attained the rank of Major. He served in Quang Tin. After the Vietnam War ended in 1975, he was captured in the Communist re-education camp for over 10 years. When he was finally released from the re-education camp he was sponsored by the U.S. government under the H.O. program to come to the U.S.
When he first came to the U.S. in 1991, he lived in St. Cloud, MN, working at the Frigidaire Company until he retired. He settled on moving to San Antonio, TX to spend his retirement, but after a few years he moved to Pinellas Park, FL and officially settled there.
He lived a happy life, mostly spent with his family and friends. He loved travelling and visiting all of his friends from the old days in Vietnam to his later years in MN, TX, and FL. In his last few years of life, he spent most of his time in the garden planting flowers and fruits.
