Bounma Xayasongkham,
81, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phetmany; his two daughters and their significant others, Mina and Travis and Linda and Had; his son, Phay; and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaden, and Dylan. Bounma was born on April 5, 1939, on his family’s farm village Phonsim, Savannakhet province, Laos. He was the fifth of seven children of Sing and Lone Xayasongkham. Bounma loved growing up with his large family and helping on the farm, but he decided to join the Lao Royal Army where he believed he was born to be, serve and to protect his homeland and people. Bounma was a wonderful father, grandfather, and uncle to his many nieces and nephews in the United States and Laos. He was respected by many who knew him. Along with working hard to raise his family, he helped, supported, and sponsored many relatives and their families to have a better life. After his retirement, he lived a happy life and spent most of his time around the family’s property land, planting, raising animals just like when he was younger. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren and watching them succeed in their sports and academics. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. There will be a visitation with a Buddhist service on Sunday, January 31st 12:00pm-3:00pm followed by cremation at 3:00pm.
