Barbara (Bateman) Caffo left to join the angels on July 11, 2020 after her battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was 82.
It would be wrong to say that Barb lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have given up, Barb stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.
Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
She received her nursing degree along with The Nurse Educator Award from Genesee Community College in 1979.
She then furthered her education at the University of Buffalo where she received certifications in both Supervisor Management and Intensive Coronary Care.
Helping young people discover their passion for nursing was one of her greatest joys in life.
She was a lifelong New Yorker and loved her Buffalo Bills football.
Barb is survived by her children Ken, Cheryl, Karen, John, Paul, her sister Dorothy (Bateman) Gatto, 12 grandchildren as well as multiple great grandchildren.
Her services will be private and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
