Allan Lee Wren Obituary

72, passed away Dec. 13, 2023. Al made Florida his home almost 40 years ago. He was originally from East Moline, IL.

Al enjoyed playing poker with friends and family, and won his last solitaire game. There isn’t a western book he hasn’t read or movie he hasn't watched. He was a very expressive storyteller. With his quick wit, he had a rhyme, mischievous smile and wink with his sparkly blue eyes to follow each story (many listened to multiple times). Al loved mushroom hunting in the spring while he visited up North and enjoyed Quad City pizza and Maid Rites at every visit. Al made lifelong friends in IL and FL, and was considered the fun uncle — the favorite — if you will.

Al was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Forrestal, an aircraft carrier. Al was a carpenter by trade and worked on several esteemed projects in Florida, such as reconstruction of the Vinoy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan, whom he shared a loving marriage for 40 years; Mother, Oma Shappard (Earl) and Father, Carl Wren (Evie).

Al is survived by his brothers: Orland Wren (Julie), Marvin Wren (Linda), CL Wren (Sue); his Children: Chad Moore (Marcy), AL., Sharon Wren, MO., Jenny Mudd (JD), IL., Wendy Ehrecke (Chris), FL., Angie Lowry (Justin), FL. Grandkids: Joshua Snyder, Tony Sing, Samantha Wilkerson, James Mudd, Jr., Mikayla Wren, Brandon Wilkerson, Justyn Mudd, Michael Wren, and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2023 at 1 pm at Sunnyside Cemetery.
