Eileen Mae (Movitz) Norlander,
92, of St. Petersburg, Fl, passed away on September 1, 2017 at Westminster Suncoast, St. Petersburg, FL. She was born on March 18, 1925 in Elgin, IL and spent her life before marriage on the family farm in Bartlett, IL with her sister Norma. She married Carl Robert Norlander on August 17, 1947 and spent sixty-one wonderful years together raising their family, traveling, and enjoying their numerous friends. Eileen and Carl were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, IL and, in retirement, were active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL. Her faith was an integral part of her life. In the later part of her life, she and Carl moved to St. Pete Beach, FL were they spent many sun-filled days by the pool with their children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She and Carl were members of the St. Petersburg Country Club and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Rumor has it that she often beat Carl at Golf. As a baseball fan, a life-long wish was fulfilled when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in Chicago in 2016. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Carl, and survived by her sister Norma Halffield of St. Petersburg, Fl; daughter Kay Norlander-Case and her partner Christopher Sparveri of Parrish, Fl; daughter Sue Rosenfield and her husband Wayne of Parrish, FL; son William Norlander and his wife Jeannine of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren Corey Norlander and finance Jeff Nickas, Aaron Rosenfield, Alex Norlander and his wife Sarah, and David Rosenfield. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild this October. Everyone who knew Eileen, for a long period of time or for the shortest moment, came to love her and appreciate her positive outlook on life. Her generosity spilled over to everyone who encountered her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her funeral service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 301 58th Street South, St. Petersburg, FL 33707 on Tuesday, September 5th at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Dr. Erich Heintzen officiating. Following the service, please join the family at Westminster Suncoast, 1095 Pinellas Point Dr., St. Petersburg, FL 33705 in the Lounge for a light lunch and celebration.
